DUE TO COVID 19 WE HAVE MADE THE DECISION NOT TO OPEN THE SUMMER TERM COMPETITIONS UNTIL DECEMBER. THE SPRING/SUMMER DATES MAY CHANGE, THIS WILL BE CONFIRMED WHEN BOOKING HAS OPENED.
BOOKING FOR THIS COMPETITION WILL OPEN ON TUESDAY 1st DECEMBER.
This event is part of the School Games programme and is open to all schools in the Cambridge Partnership. The top two schools in this event will qualify to represent Cambridge SSP at the School Games Summer Festival TBC.
The Year 3&4 Mini Tennis Red competition is aimed at young people who are new or beginners to the game, not for those who are regularly competing in Mini Tennis competitions outside of school. If a young person is regularly competing, they already get plenty of other opportunities to play and compete. Therefore this competition is not open to youngsters with an Orange 2, Orange 1, or Orange 1* or Green Rating at the time of the Level 2 event. However, we would still encourage schools to involve these young players by giving them a role such as team captain or assistant coach. Schools can check ratings here, using name and year of birth.
- Teams are mixed -2 boys and 2 girls.
- Mini Tennis Red uses badminton sized courts, 23” Mini Tennis rackets, Mini Tennis sponge balls if played indoors, or Mini Tennis red felt balls if played outdoors.
- The format is Timed Tennis; players play for a set period of time, until the whistle blows. The length of matches depends on time available and amount of entries, but matches normally last five minutes.
- Matches are singles matches with Boy 1 v Boy 1, Boy 2 v Boy 2, Girl 1 v Girl 1 & Girl 2 v Girl 2

More information regarding format of the tournament will be sent out closer to the event but schools are encouraged to enter early as there are only a limited number of entries for this event.
Each school can enter a maximum of 2 teams one A and B team. 4 children per team, 2 x girls and 2 x boys.

Deadline for entries: Thursday 29th April
Schools will be emailed a minimum of 28 days before each competition to reconfirm their entry and the number of teams entered. Following this further spaces may become available allowing any schools still on the waiting list to take part.
Final Information on all competitions will be emailed out 7 days beforehand and orders of play etc will the be created and all paperwork completed for the event. If for any reason a school is unable to attend after confirming their entry they should give as much notice as possible to the competition organiser. Late withdrawal from a competition with less than 7 days notice will incur an administration fee of £25.
