21 teams entered into the event which was held at Cambridge Lawn Tennis Club, the competition was split into an A zone and a B zone competitions with matches played over 16 mini courts and umpired by tennis leaders from CRC and Anglian Ruskin.
In the B zone, 10 teams played each other in a round robin format split into two groups. Each team played every other team. The winning teams were decided through points scored. The team with the most points came first. St Laurence were the winning team in the B competition. Milton Road came second and Orchard Park took third place. All top three teams won gold, silver and bronze medals.
In the A zone 11 teams played each other in a round robin format split into two groups. Each team played every other team. The winning teams were decided through points scored. The team with the most points came first. Milton Road were the winning team in the A competition. St Matthew’s came second and St Laurence took third place. All top three teams won gold, silver and bronze medals.
Cath Heron Manager for the Cambridge School Sports Partnership said “The event was fantastic. Seeing lots of children excited about tennis. The sun was a welcome factor and children enjoyed playing in such a wonderful community setting. Tennis is a popular sport amongst primary school children and some of the children really look forward to this annual event”.
Both Milton Road and St Matthew’s will now go on the represent the Cambridge Schools Partnership at the Level 3 Games on the 28th June.
