About The Hills Road 6th Form

Hills Road is a highly successful and popular Sixth Form College with over 1800 students. It is a Beacon College that has been awarded ‘designated outstanding’ status as result of an ofsted inspection in 2006. The site houses a well equipped Sports Centre and LTA High Performance Tennis Centre. There are adult evening classes, clubs and recreational sporting opportunities for all.

The FESCo post is a new and exciting role within the College and I will be working closely with the Cambridge School Sport Partnership network and Living Sport to enhance student participation in sport, volunteering, leadership and competition through developing links with local clubs and community providers.

Our FESCo: Linda Swain

Linda was appointed as a Part-time FESCo at the end of August 2008.  She has been involved in sport as a participant all her life and has more recently taken her hobby up as a job.  Her career in sport has consisted of working as:

Workforce Development Manager for England Netball
Netball Co-ordinator for Living Sport and Netherhall Sports Specialist College
Part-time Netball Development Officer for South Cambs DC

As well as being a Netball Coach, Umpire and Tutor.

Linda in also familiar with the education system in the Cambridgeshire area as she spent 15 years at Cambridge Regional College, first in marketing and then in teaching.  She studied at Anglia Polytechnic University to gain teacher status and taught work related skills to adults with learning difficulties and GNVQ Travel and Tourism.

Her son and daughter went to Hills Road and Long Road respectively and both have sporting interests.  Linda is proud of her daughter Anna, who plays Touch Rugby for England Ladies and spends most holidays travelling to various countries supporting her and the team.
