Bottisham Family includes Bottisham Village College, a large secondary 11 - 16 school with an excellent reputation for excellence across the board and has 11 primary schools within its family. It is a rural family whose schools range as far a field as Teversham, in Cambridge, to Cheveley on the edge of Newmarket. The family links to both South Cambs and East Cambs District Councils. The links with East Cambs are particularly strong and a number of sporting opportunities are provided yearly through the East Cambs Sports Development Team.

The Bottisham Family has two SSCos; Sonia Martell, Secondary SSCo and Carolyn Jupp, Primary SSCo.

Sonia attended Bottisham Village College and then Hills Road Sixth Form College as a pupil. She went on to study to become a PE teacher at Cheltenham & Gloucester university, formerly known as St. Pauls & St. Marys teaching college, graduating in 1992 with a B.ED Hons degree in PE and Humanities.

She moved to Lincolnshire to take up her first teaching position at De Aston school in Market Rasen, an 11 - 18 comprehensive day and boarding school within a rural setting. During a five year period at the school, she was successfully appointed as second in the department.

This was followed by a move back home to Cambridgeshire on a successful appointment as Head of Girls PE at Netherhall school in 1997. During her ten years service at Netherhall, she was promoted to the position of Head of Department after five years, when the school successfully achieved sports college status and then to Director of Specialism in 2004, on securing specialist status for a further four more years.

In 2007 she was successfully appointed to take on the role of SCCO/Teacher of PE at Bottisham Village College.

As a new mum, she is keen to spend quality time with her daughter and husband. Any time left over is filled with sporting interests. After a lengthy playing career for local teams in Netball and Tennis, she has adopted a more leisurely outlook and is currently playing Badminton and cheering on Arsenal FC.
