The Manor Family is based in the north of the city taking in the Wards of Kings Hedges, Arbury, East Chesterton, the new Arbury Park development and is linked to Manor Community College.

The sporting opportunities in this area are centred round Chesterton Sports Centre and the newly created Manor Sports Centre, built from BIG Lottery Funding through the City Council's Active Cambridge Project.

Many opportunities exist for youngsters to participate in school and club activities as a result.

Our SSCo: Jane Fidler

Jane knew she wanted to teach PE from the age of 14 and duly set off to Chelsea College of Physical Education in Eastbourne to study PE, Education and Dance.
Her second year was spent at the Laban Dance Centre based at Addlestone in Surrey, where she also studied Kinetography (dance notation).

During her time at College she also gained qualifications to teach swimming and trampolining.
Her first full time job was at Eltham Hill School in SE London, she then moved to Comberton Village College for promotion to Head of Girls PE.

Following a 5 year career break to have 2 boys, she returned to teaching at Coleridge Community College where she became Head of Department after 2 years.

She became involved in running the Cambridge and District Secondary School Sports Association, working with Ali Cope, who co-ordinated a number of inter school competitions, and later, the Roy Burrell Awards.

Jane then had another career break and complete change when she was employed as a research and administration assistant at the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate (now known as Cambridge Assessment).

However having bumped into Ali Cope one day in Cambridge, she realised that she missed working in schools and took the opportunity to become the Manor SSCo from September 2007.

Her main sport is tennis which she still plays competitively, and she did also played hockey. She currently enjoys swimming and cycling and is usually involved in some form of dance whether it is Morris Dancing, Adult Ballet, Ceroc or Salsa.
