In My Community

Since 2005, Carolyn has coached basketball in over 36 of the 43 primary schools, either during curriculum time or as an after school club. In addition to the work directly with schools, she organises our annual Tournament for Year 5 & 6, Family Festivals for Year 3 & 4, Cambridge HotShots Central Venue Leagues at four locations and our Inter-School Friendlies. Carolyn also works as the Primary SSCo for the Bottisham Family.

Being the American in the Partnership, she attended university on a Basketball/Softball scholarship and graduated with a BA in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. She also holds a Master's of Education degree. She lived in Israel for 8 years where she met and married her English husband. They moved to the UK 9 years ago. They have an 12 year old son, Jake.

THIS MONTH'S FOCUS: HOTSHOTS BASKETBALL...

The HotShots School's programme has come to an end for the 2009/2010 school year. We were able to secure 4 locations to hold both Yr 4-6 sessions and Yr 7&8 HotShots sessions. All sessions were nicely attended. Watch this space for next year's schedule

The last two weeks of March we ran 4 Qualifying Rounds in the north, south, east and west of the city. The top two teams from each tournament have advanced to the Partnership Finals to be held on the 29th of June at St Bedes Sports Centre. Arbury A & B teams tied for first place at the Manor Tournament while Bottisham and Kettlefiellds tied for first at the Bottisham Tournament. Newnham Croft took the crown at the St Bedes Tournament with St Philips coming in second.

Cambridge HotShots Club is putting on a Level 2 Basketball Coaching Course on the 19th and 20th June and completing on the 18th and 19th of September.
