Item: ASL's Increase Number Of OSHL Opportunities

Added: Sat 12th January 2008 8.17PM

Our challenge was to increase the number of children taking part in OSHL.  We realised that in order to do this we needed to recruit and deploy more adults to support with the delivery of OSHL opportunities as there was only so much that teachers and PE trained staff could do.

SEN Talent Identification
We wanted to identify gifted and talented pupils from across ours and neighbouring Partnership, South Cambs, who have Special Educational Needs. We wanted to identify two strands of pupils, those with SEN where there are recognised development pathways and those with SEN where those pathways are yet to be developed.

Get Active, Get Moving
Help tackle the onset of obesity in children under the age of 11. Statistics show that a huge percentage of children (particularly girls) remain inactive in life if they are inactive at the age of 9 years old. We wanted to reach this group of youngsters and increase their participation in physical activity.

Ability vs Ability TOP Link Festival
Having delivered several TOP Link Festivals along the same theme over recent years, we wanted our primary school students to experience something completely different. It was around this time that we received the BPA/NASUWT Ability vs Ability Curriculum Resource Pack.
