Partnership Development Manager - Ali Cope
Ali spent 18 years in teaching, at a number of Cambridge secondary schools as well as Suffolk and Stevenage, before becoming the PDM for the Cambridge SSP based at Netherhall School, in 2004.
She trained at Nonington College, in Kent for her Human Movement degree and completed her PGCE at Brighton Polytechnic in 1986. Prior to this she worked in Sports Recreation in Kent for two years. She also took time out of teaching to briefly train to be a Police Constable, based at Thorpe Wood, in Peterborough in 1989.
Ali has taught in both the State and Independent sectors, becoming Head of PE at St Mary's School, in Cambridge in 1996. In 2000 she moved to Culford School, in Suffolk, as Director of Sport. This involved teaching youngsters from the age of 7 to 18, coordinating the sport in three schools and developing their dual use Sports Centre. She became PDM after leaving Culford to become the SSCo at Melbourn Village College, in the South Cambs SSP.
Her role as PDM involves strategic planning with numerous partner organisations, project management, the management and deployment of people; but most importantly through this, the development of sport for young people in Physical Education and School sport.
Her chief interests are now golf, swimming and photography, but in her less injury prone days, Ali was a keen hockey and squash player, with a passion for running.
